Bhakti Vedanta Course

Srila Prabhupada envisioned four levels of study of his books—Bhakti-Sastri, Bhakti-Vaibhava, Bhakti-Vedanta and Bhakti-Sarvabhauma. The VIHE is endeavoring to establish these degrees and thus provide an opportunity for higher studies in Krsna conscious philosophy to interested devotees. For the past five years devotees have been coming each summer to study Cantos One to Six of Srimad Bhagavatam under the guidance of His Grace Bhurijana Dasa and Her Grace Narayani Dasi. Having completed the Bhakti-vaibhava part of the study, we began the study of the later cantos of Srimad-Bhagavatam and completed Cantos 7, 8, 9 and the first 28chapters of Canto 10. Next winter we will continue our study of Lord Krishna's most intimate wonderful Vrindavana pastimes from Canto 10 of  Srimad-Bhagavatam.

The schedule is:

Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 10, Chapters 29 to 53 - Jan 15 to March 30, 2009

Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 10, Chapters 54 to 90 - Jan 15 to March 30, 2010

Srimad Bhagavatam, Cantos 11 and 12 - 2011

It is advised to begin one’s study from the very beginning of Srimad Bhagavatam in order to derive complete benefit. However, such course is rarely held. Therefore devotees wishing to join are invited to submit their application at the VIHE office before November 5.

· Classes will be held from Tuesday to Friday, twice a day, throughout the course

· The opening ceremony will be held on December 14, 2008

Bhakti-vaibhava in 2008 will be held only if we get enough applicants. If you are interested, please write to adipurusa.gkg@pamho.net as early as possible.

Requirements: Good sadhana, brahminical tendencies, good knowledge of Srimad Bhagavatam, proficiency in English and voluntary service. You must also have a recommendation from a senior devotee in good standing who knows you well.

* Contribution for full-fledged student: Rs.9.000.
